About the Prize Committee
The Prize Committee was formed to draw attention to the primary responsibilities of art museum curators, collection installation, publications and exhibitions. There are three publication prize categories including awards for Outstanding Catalogue based on a museum's permanent collection, Outstanding Catalogue based on a museum exhibition, and Outstanding Article, Extended Catalogue Entry, or Essay.
Additionally, there are five categories for Outstanding Exhibition or installation, including:
1. Outstanding Monographic or Retrospective Exhibition of 2011 2. Outstanding Thematic Exhibition of 2011 3. Outstanding Exhibition in a University Museum of 2011 4. Outstanding Permanent Collection New Installation (or Re-Installation) of 2011 5. Outstanding Small Exhibition (based on square footage: no more than 2,000 square feet) of 2011
The Prize Committee works to outline and define the criteria for the prize juries who award both the Book and Article each year. The Prize Committee also works to solicit, vet and streamline the nominations for the Exhibition or Installation awards each year. The Exhibition/Installation prizes are voted on by the entire membership of the AAMC each year with up to five nominations for each category. All awards are distributed at the AAMC annual meeting in May.Committee Members
