CURATORIAL SLAM PROPOSALS NOW BEING ACCEPTED
The Association of Art Museum Curators (AAMC) is pleased to announce that for the fourth year the AAMC Annual Conference & Meeting will offer an experimental session geared towards presenting projects, ideas and curatorial risk-taking at its very best, The Curatorial Slam. The Conference is scheduled for May 9 - 12, 2015, in NYC, with Curatorial Slams taking place on May 12, 2015.
The Curatorial Slam session will seek to highlight six to nine short presentations (no more than seven minutes each) that are meant to provide curators a space to test out ideas and projects in progress and convey our passion about our fields.
Topics can include prospective exhibitions, recent acquisitions, conservation projects, or innovative programs. Presentations on non-Western and non-Modern art are particularly encouraged, as are presentations centered around single objects, whether new acquisitions, subjects of current research, or of innovative conservation or education initiatives.
The ultimate goal of this session will be to showcase the dynamic work of the AAMC membership at various moments in the curatorial process.
Current AAMC Member curators (only) may submit Curatorial Slam proposals. Submissions are accepted from December 8, 2014 until February 9, 2015. No extensions will be granted. Attendance at the AAMC Annual Conference & Meeting Sessions is required on the day you present your Curatorial Slam (May 12). Proposals will be selected by a jury. AAMC will notify selected participants of the jury's decision and exact schedule details. Kindly contact the AAMC offices with any questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
