*NEW* Adjunct Membership for Independent Curators
Adjunct membership is now open to independent curators, and others without museum affiliation, who seek to engage with the AAMC’s community of art museum curators on issues relevant to professional practices. Founded in 2001, the mission of the Association of Art Museum Curators is to support and promote the work of museum curators by creating opportunities for networking, collaboration, professional development, and advancement. Curators who do not work in a traditional art museum setting yet share the goals and values of the AAMC may submit applications to be reviewed by the Membership committee on a twice-yearly cycle.
The AAMC welcomes applications for adjunct membership from all eligible candidates, including: independent curators; curators of private or foundation collections; curators working in non-conventional art institutions (such as public art spaces); and scholars and academics with demonstrated curatorial experience. The following criteria are used by the Membership committee to determine eligibility:
• Candidate must have a demonstrated record of curatorial activity
• Candidate must have strong engagement with and or/background in curatorial work, preferably within the art museum setting
• Candidate must not be employed by (full or part-time) or affiliated with any commercial gallery, auction house, or other arts-related commercial entity
Adjunct dues: $150/person, annually
