INSTITUTIONAL MEMBERSHIP FAQ

 

What is an institutional member?

AAMC institutional members contribute to the organization by providing the central funding for the organization each year. We are confident that the growth of the AAMC will continue to reflect the support and desire of museum directors across the country to see the curatorial profession flourish and serve both our institutions and the larger museum community. Our sliding scale dues structure is based on an institution’s budget. 

 

What are the key benefits of membership? 

Membership benefits include complimentary registration for an AAMC individual member to attend the AAMC Annual Conference, ability to post positions on artcurators.org, access to our resources and member portal on artcurators.org, AAMC's e-news about programs and opportunities, and recognition of support.

As members join or renew during 2016, AAMC will also include one complimentary membership with institutional dues.  Please contact us for more information regarding this new benefit.

 

Is my organization eligible for membership?

Institutional members are accepted after review, but are approved if they are a non-profit visual arts organization producing exhibitions and programming.  We recommend contacting us about becoming an Institutional Member, and you can do so at aamc[at]artcurators[dot]org.

 

Have the dues and benefits changed in 2016?

AAMC has continually increased its membership offerings without increasing dues despite the increasing costs of delivering and administering membership benefits.The last dues increase across all levels was in 2006/2007, and for the highest operating budget tiers in 2014.  In order to ensure the future growth of the organization, a modest dues increase is necessary.

The AAMC is continuously expanding its programming and networking opportunities, this includes webinars, events, awards, mentorships, and overall professional development. One complimentary individual membership and complimentary registration to the Conference for an AAMC member on staff are new benefits.  Please note neither of these benefits can be applied retroactively, and will take effect as institutional members join or renew in 2016, and then as the individual joins or renews.  
 

What are the membership dues rates?

Membership dues are annual. 

$650 Institutions with an operating budget between $1‐2  million


$900
 Institutions with an operating budget above $2 million & below $4 million


$1,150 
Institutions with an operating budget above $4 million & below $6 million


$1,400 
Institutions with an operating budget above $6 million & below $10 million


$2,150 
Institutions with an operating budget above $10 million & below $20 million


$2,900 
Institutions with an operating budget above  $20 million & below $100 million


$4,400
 Institutions with an operating budget above $100 million
