/ˈSHäpˌtôk/ - conversation about one’s occupation or business at an informal or social occasion.
The 2017 AAMC & AAMC Foundation Conference & Annual Meeting introduces a new feature: Shoptalk, which is a set of short case study presentations related to different curatorial topics, with this year's focus on display solutions.
The 2017 speakers will give an informal five-minute talk, highlighting interesting display solutions related to a specific artwork that has been on view at their institution within the last two years. This is an opportunity to discuss how presentation or design impacts viewing and interpreting art.
The three or four selected presenters will give a five-minute presentation consisting of three images only. This will enable speakers to get to the heart of the matter quickly and limit preparation time. There will be no extensions of time, no additional slides, and no reading from a paper. This is an active, exciting moment to talk to your peers about a great solution to a shared curatorial concern.
Shoptalk proposals should include a title, the three images you would like to use, and a 300-word description of what you will talk about. Submit your proposal below.
If you have questions, please contact the AAMC offices.
