Below are the criteria by which the Digital Publication jurors will use to guide them in the selection process.


  • What is the functionality, ease of use, and new features offered?
  • Does it take advantage of digital technologies and originality and innovation?
  • Is the text exceptionally well-written and in accordance with accepted art historical standards or does it offer new methodologies that benefit those standards or incorporate relevant approaches from other disciplines? 
  •  Does it advance the field’s and the public’s understanding of the subject in new and engaging ways? 
  •  Does it offer new perspectives, e.g. scholarship, new research, an original concept? 
  •  Is the point of view clear and compelling?
  •  Does it take risks? Is it a game-changer?
  •  If a multi-author publication, is the scope and scale warranted and does the sum of the parts provide an integrated approach that supports and enhances the central concept? Has the use of multiple authors taken the best advantage of interdisciplinary perspectives relevant to the central topic?
  •  If a collection catalogue, is the scope and scale warranted, does the selection of objects provide a compelling profile of the collection, and is the type of information provided about the objects a useful and compelling balance of documentation and interpretation?
