The Association of Art Museum Curators is excited to announce applications for Curatorial Slam presentations are now open.

The Curatorial Slam sessions, on Tuesday May 10, at the AAMC Annual Meeting & Conference consists of six to nine short presentations (no more than seven minutes each) that showcase the dynamic work of our membership at various moments in the curatorial process. These fast-paced presentations are meant to be informative and expand upon what we understand as the curatorial domain.

We would like your proposal to raise interesting questions and introduce creative solutions; hopefully your project will become a case study for other curators and institutions dealing with similar issues. Proposals can be broad in scope, presenting an overview of a project, or tightly focused on one particular element of your duties. Your presentation can deal with any topic, including collections management, conservation, provenance issues, acquisitions, the curatorial role in development and donor relations, display techniques, fresh approaches to permanent collections, educational initiatives, publications, the re-evaluation of art historical norms, and marketing. Presentations on non-Western and non-Modern art are particularly encouraged.

The process is not labor intensive and curators of all ranks are encouraged to submit proposals. Each presentation will last no more than seven minutes and consist of no more than twenty slides.  All presentations will take place on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Annual Conference & Meeting.

The application deadline is Tuesday, January 25 at 5:00 pm ET. This earlier deadline will make it easier for you to seek travel funding if your proposal is accepted.
