Annual Compensation Review on Curatorial Roles Published by AAMC

New York, November 3, 2016 - The Association of Art Museum Curators (AAMC) has published its annual Compensation Review, available exclusively to AAMC members. The review, compiled from data provided by the Association of Art Museum Directors' (AAMD) Annual Salary Survey, reviews curatorial roles across geographic areas, institution size, and area population. The survey, in addition to being a valuable resource in aiding individual members' professional development and career advancement, helps to promotes greater transparency within the curatorial field and the museum community at large. Members may view the survey here.

Initially published to AAMC members in 2006, the Review compares the development of salaries of curators at various career stages over the past decade. An essential part of AAMC's mission lies in encouraging the continual professional development, advancement, and effectiveness of curators, and providing resources to that end to its international membership of over 1,300.

Along with the Compensation Review, AAMC continually publishes professional guidelines, templates, articles and best practices for use by our membership, encouraging the development and dissemination of professional standards and best practices. AAMC's webinar program, led by the Professional Development Committee, organizes webinars on pressing topics, recent advancements, and essential skills for curators. Available online, these webinars are accessible to membership across the country, and are archived on AAMC's Resource Page for ongoing reference and study. AAMC's Grant programs, Career Center, Internship & Fellowship database, and Exhibition & Symposia listings provide further access to resources specific to the curatorial field.
