Carol S. Eliel, Curator of Modern Art at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), has been with the museum since 1984. In addition to John Altoon (on view at LACMA through September 14, 2014, before traveling to the Rose Art Museum, Brandeis University), she has organized numerous exhibitions including most recently, Helen Pashgian: Light Invisible (2014);  David Smith: Cubes and Anarchy (2011); SoCal: Southern California Art of the 1960s and 70s from LACMA’s Collection (2007); and Lee Mullican: An Abundant Harvest of Sun (2005). In addition, Dr. Eliel is coorganizing (with the Guggenheim Museum and the Art Institute of Chicago) a major exhibition devoted to influential modernist László Moholy-Nagy, opening in New York in 2016 and at LACMA in 2017.  She is also actively involved with acquisitions for the museum, most recently with the addition of works by Judy Chicago, Bruce Conner, Moholy-Nagy, and Simmons & Burke to the collection. In addition to her work at LACMA, Dr. Eliel has lectured across the United States, written on a wide variety of subjects ranging from eighteenth-century French painting to cutting-edge contemporary art, and served from 2011-13 as President of the Association of Art Museum Curators (AAMC), of which she is now a lifetime trustee. Her honors also include being named a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government for her dedication to presenting the works of French artists to the American public (1999). Dr. Eliel received her B.A. from Yale University and her M.A. and Ph.D. from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University.


Catherine Evans
joined the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh in 2014 as Chief Curator. Prior to her appointment, she was the William and Sarah Ross Soter Curator of Photography at the Columbus Museum of Art, where she also served as the Chief Curator. In 2001 Evans spearheaded the acquisition of the Photo League collection for which the museum is known nationally and internationally. She co-authored and co-curatored 
The Radical Camera, New York’s Photo League, 1936-1951 (Yale, 2011). Evans is a 2012 Tedx presenter and is on the Executive Board of the Association of Art Museum Curators as Vice President of Governance. Previously she was an assistant curator in the Photography Department at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and at the Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montreal. Evans received her BA from Williams College.

Joan Young is Director of Curatorial Affairs at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum where she provides administrative oversight for the curatorial department and currently manages the Guggenheim UBS MAP Global Art Initiative. Since joining the Guggenheim in 1995, she has organized exhibitions by Hugo Boss Prize winners Tacita Dean, Emily Jacir, and Rirkrit Tiravanija for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and curated
Phoebe Washburn: Regulated Fool's Milk Meadow, Julie Mehretu: Grey Area, Once Upon a Time: Fantastic Narratives in Contemporary Video , and Gabriel Orozco: Asterisms (co-organized with Nancy Spector) for Deutsche Guggenheim, Berlin. She also provided curatorial support for the exhibitions Robert Rauschenberg: A Retrospective; The Hugo Boss Prize 1998; Andreas Slominski ; Postmedia: Conceptual Photography in the Guggenheim Museum Collection; Lawrence Weiner: NACH ALLES/AFTER ALL ; Matthew Barney: The Cremaster Cycle; Moving Pictures: Contemporary Photography and Video from the Guggenheim Museum Collections ; Singular Forms (Sometimes Repeated): Art from 1951 to the Present; Douglas Gordon's The VANITY of Allegory ; Marina Abramović: Seven Easy Pieces; All in the present must be transformed: Matthew Barney and Joseph Beuys ; theanyspacewhatever; and Intervals: Kitty Kraus.
