Everything you need to know about the 2025 Art Curators Conference!

 

  The Art Curators Conference: What is it? AAMC is the flagship organization for nonprofit art curators across the globe. Each year we host the Art Curators Conference, the singular event centering on the art curatorial profession. The multi-day event includes networking, special events, sessions, keynotes, and special events. Leading up to the event are leadership initiatives in conjunction with our Propel Program and Professional Alliance for Curators of Color.

 

When is the Art Curators Conference? May 1 & 2, 2025

Where is the Art Curators Conference held?
All sessions will be held at The Prince George Ballroom, 15 E 27th St, New York, NY 10016.
The Prince George Ballroom is owned and operated by Breaking Ground, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides affordable housing for homeless and low-income New Yorkers. 100% of net proceeds from event rentals support this mission.

How much is Conference registration? In-Person Member rate: $325
Virtual Member rate: $175
Non-member rate: $1,500
How do I register to attend?
Register online here! You will receive a confirmation email when you have completed registration.
Are you offering virtual registration? Yes, you can register to attend virtually! When does registration close? In-person registration is open until Friday, April 18, 2025 and virtual registration is open until Monday, April 28, 2025.

Do you offer a discount for members? Yes! Regular ticket prices for the Art Curators Conference is $1,500. Members of AAMC Foundation can attend in-person for $325 and virtually for $175.

My institution is a member, do I receive a discount to attend? The AAMC Foundation is happy to extend the discounted membership rate to attend the Conference to the curator who received the complimentary membership from their institution. Each institution receives one complimentary membership for a curator of their choice. To learn more about institutional membership, or your institution’s complimentary membership, please email aamc@artcurators.org.

The Members Party: What is it?
The Members’ Party is a tradition of the AAMC Foundation at every Conference. Named in recognition of our supportive community of curators, we are proud to honor their work and achievements. The Members’ Party is open to all attendees of the Conference.


The Members Party: Where and when is it? Asia Society Museum, 725 Park Ave, New York, NY 10021 Wednesday, May 1, 2025, from 6-8 PM.
Pre-registration is required.


I’m not an AAMC Foundation Member, but I am attending the Conference. Can I still attend the Members’ Party? Yes! Anyone who is registered to attend the Conference is welcome to join us for the Members’ Party.


How do I access the Conference venues? The Prince George Ballroom is at 15 East 27th Street, between 5th and Madison Avenues. It is conveniently located off of the N and R trains at 28th Street and Broadway, as well as the 4 and 6 trains at 28th Street and Park Avenue South. There is parking located at 7-100 West 28th Street (between 5th Avenue and Broadyway) for a fee. Uber, Lyft, and NYC Cabs will also drop you at the location.

The Asia Society Museum, located at 725 Park Avenue, is accessible by the 6 train at East 68th Street/Hunter College, or the F and Q rains to East 63rd Street and Lexington Avenue. There is limited on-street metered and unmetered parking available.


Are the venues ADA-accessible? Yes; both The Prince George Ballroom and the Asia Society Museum are ADA-accessible for wheelchairs. The ADA accessible entrance for the Prince George Ballroom (Conference venue) is located at 14 East 28th street – there will be a security guard there to admit you and there are no stairs in the venue.


How do I check in when I arrive each day? Pick up your name tag and tote bag at Conference check-in to receive access to Conference sessions and registered events. The AAMC staff at check-in can also help with any questions you may have. Check-in is open in the lobby of the Prince George Ballroom for the duration of the Conference.

Once you have checked in, simply show your name tag for reentry to the Prince George Ballroom or the Asia Society Museum for The Members’ Party to AAMC staff.

When does the Conference start and end each day?
Check-in begins at 9am on Thursday, May 1 and 8:30am on Friday, May 2 at the Prince George Ballroom. Sessions will end at 5pm on May 1 and 4pm on May 2.

The Members’ Party will be held in the evening on Thursday, May 1, following the sessions at the Asia Society Museum from 6-8 PM. Pre-registration for the Members' Party is required.

 

Is there WiFi at the Prince George Ballroom?
Yes. The WiFi password will be available in the lobby at check-in.

 

How can I access Conference information?
Conference information including schedule, speakers and bios, panels, workshops and more can be found on the Art Curators Conference app Whova or on the AAMC Foundation’s website. Please note more information is provided on Whova.

 

Who is speaking at the Conference?
You can view the speakers and their bios on Whova and on the AAMC Foundation’s website.

 

How can I tell who else will be in attendance?

I registered, but now I can’t make it. What do I do?
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer refunds. Select recordings will be shared will all registrants after the Conference has concluded.

Do I have to be in attendance the entire time?
No! While it is not required to be in attendance for the entire Conference, we recommend you refer to the schedule so you can ensure that you are in attendance for all sessions you would like to attend.

 

Can I join a session late?
Yes, you can join a session at any time. If you join late, please enter quietly and take a seat in the back so as to not interrupt the session.

 

How long do the Conference sessions last?

Each Conference session lasts about one hour.

 

How long are the breaks between Conference sessions?
Breaks between sessions last 10 minutes; lunch each day will last 1.5 hours.

 

RoundTables: What and when are they?
AAMC Foundation’s RoundTables are small-group discussions where members discuss topics facing the field at large. Through these open conversations, we hope to catalyze lasting cross-institutional discussions on best practices in the field. RoundTables will be held on Thursday May 1 from 1:30 - 2:30 PM in the main Conference ballroom. No prior registration is needed - just join a table!

 

I’m a nursing mom. Is there a private space for me?
Yes! Please ask AAMC Foundation staff for directions.

 

Is there a quiet space to take calls?
Unfortunately, there are no quiet spaces to take calls in the venue. We ask that you kindly take your calls outside to not disturb the Conference.

 

Are there gender-neutral restrooms?
Yes, gender-neutral restrooms are available.

 

Is there food provided?
There will be coffee and tea available throughout the day. White wine and water will be provided at the Members’ Party.

 

Are there restaurants nearby?
