Help Contribute to the 10th Anniversary Film and Program

In celebration of AAMC’s 10th anniversary, we’re working with a videographer to create a short film about the last ten years of curatorial practice. To make the film as dynamic as possible, we need your help!

Here’s what we need – do one, or all of the following if you can! (extended descriptions of each listed below)

1)      CREATE A PHOTO ALBUM - Submit 10 – 20 snapshots documenting your museum surroundings.

3)      SEND MUSEUM FILM FOOTAGE - Ask your communications department to supply some b-roll footage of your museum to appear in the film.

4)      SEND A MESSAGE - Contribute a message to the AAMC 10th Anniversary program answering the question: "In what ways does the AAMC support you in your career as a curator?” (specific examples are appreciated)

ABOUT THE PHOTO ALBUM

Grab your digital camera and tell us a story! We hope to include a number of images into the film from museums all over the country. Securing reproduction rights for specific works of art won’t be possible, so please take snapshots that document your favorite spots within and around the museum: a favorite corner or architectural feature; your walk from the car to your office; your desk; places of quiet and reflection.

Deadline for receiving images: April 1, 2011

Instructions for submitting images to our AAMC drop box:

To upload a file to a Dropbox:

Click on the link above or paste it into your web browser address bar.
In the text boxes provided, specify a subject and message.
Click the Browse button, and specify the location of the file.
Select Add another file for each additional file (up to five files maximum).
Click SEND IT.

ABOUT SENDING MUSEUM FILM FOOTAGE

Does your museum communications department have stock film footage of your museum? Archived historical photos that they’re willing to share? B-roll footage used for the press? Put us in touch with the right person and we’ll take care of the rest. Send your contact’s information to sally.block@artcurators.org.

ABOUT SENDING A MESSAGE

In addition to the video project, the AAMC is compiling quotes from our members to include in the 10th Anniversary Program. Please address the question: In what ways does the AAMC support you in your career as a curator?
