ASSOCIATION OF ART MUSEUM CURATORS RECEIVES FUNDING FROM THE SAMUEL H.
KRESS FOUNDATION FOR 2013 TRAVEL GRANTS
New York, February 7,
2013 – The Association of Art Museum Curators (AAMC) is pleased to announce
the receipt of a $10,000 grant from the Samuel H. Kress Foundation to fund this
year’s AAMC Professional Development Travel Grants. The Samuel H. Kress
Foundation has continued to be one of the largest funders of the AAMC’s travel
grants over the past six years, beginning in 2008.
AAMC Professional Development Travel Grants aim to support
curators within the organization who have limited availability to funds for
travel from their own institutions. All current AAMC members are eligible for
funding; requests are vetted and approved by the AAMC Board of Trustees. The
grants has historically been used to finance travel to the AAMC’s annual
meeting. "The AAMC is truly grateful to the Samuel H. Kress Foundation for
their ongoing support of this program,” says AAMC President, Carol S. Eliel. "The
Professional Development Travel Grants have been an essential component of our
organization, allowing curators to meet and network with their peers, thereby
offering invaluable opportunities for professional development. The AAMC would
not be able to sustain this program without the strong support of the Kress
Foundation.”
