For Immediate Release ASSOCIATION OF ART MUSEUM
CURATORS RECEIVES FUNDING FROM THE SAMUEL H. KRESS FOUNDATION FOR 2013 TRAVEL
GRANTS
New York, February 12, 2014– The Association of Art Museum Curators (AAMC) is
honored to announce the receipt of a $10,000 grant from the Samuel H. Kress
Foundation to fund this year’s AAMC Professional Development Travel Grants. The
Samuel H. Kress Foundation is a dedicated supporter of the curatorial practice,
and has been one of the largest funders of the AAMC’s travel grants over the
past seven years, beginning in 2008.
"The
Kress Foundation has been instrumental in its support of the AAMC and its
mission, " says AAMC President Emily Ballew Neff. "The Professional
Development Travel Grants allow curators to meet and interact with their peers
and to pursue professional development through thought-provoking panel
discussions and practical workshops. We are especially excited that Kress
Professional Travel Grants will bring curators to its annual conference in
Detroit, Michigan, where it is meeting there for the first time. We are
grateful for everything that the Kress Foundation has done to help further
AAMC's goals to promote and nurture the essential work that art museum curators
do."
AAMC
Professional Development Travel Grants support member curators who have limited
access to funds for travel from their own institutions to the AAMC Annual
Conference. All current AAMC members are eligible for funding; requests are
vetted and approved by the AAMC Board of Trustees.
