The Samuel H. Kress Foundation AAMC Affiliated Fellowship at the American
Academy in Rome

York, March 31, 2014 –
The Association of Art Museum Curators (AAMC) and the American
Academy in Rome (AAR) are pleased to announce the inaugural year of
The Samuel H. Kress
Foundation AAMC Affiliated Fellowship at the American Academy in Rome. The purpose of the award is to provide essential
funding for curators to develop projects that require research in Rome,
Italy. The program is intended to honor exceptional
curatorial vision and help curators advance deserving projects.
"In establishing this pilot Fellowship,
the Kress Foundation hopes to offer art museum curators a short-‐term sabbatical opportunity to pursue their professional research within
the singularly rich scholarly setting provided by
the American Academy in Rome,” says Max Marmor, President, of the
Samuel H. Kress Foundation. "Support for research travel is severely limited
in art museums, and we are honored to offer this opportunity, which we believe
will significantly advance our own mission to foster and promote the professional
work of art museum curators.”

partners, such as The Samuel H. Kress Foundation
and the American Academy in Rome, who share our organization’s mission to support
and nurture the important scholarly research of art museum curators,” adds
AAMC President Emily Ballew Neff. "We are

aspect of curatorial work.”
A call for applications will be launched shortly. Awardees will be determined by a committee of
AAMC leaders and announced at the end of May 2014.
