New York, December 6, 2018  The Association of Art Museum Curators & AAMC Foundation is currently accepting applications for The Samuel H. Kress and Association of Art Museum Curators (AAMC) Foundation Affiliated Fellowship at the American Academy in Rome (AAR). This Program honors exceptional curatorial vision and helps curators advance deserving projects in any field or genre. The purpose of this Fellowship is to provide essential funding for curators to develop projects that require research in Italy. Only one curator is awarded per year.

While the AAR is the Affiliated Fellow’s physical base for the 4-week appointment, their project may be on any subject or focused on any field of study. It is not limited to research of Rome-focused scholarship only, meaning the research need not be Italy or Rome-specific.

Affiliated Fellows will be boarded at the AAR housing, complete with a private bath, six lunches and five dinners per week, and access to residence hall kitchens. They also have access to all AAR facilities (including 24-hour a day / 7-days a week access to the library and overall grounds), and all activities that occur at the Academy, such as concerts, exhibitions, conferences, lectures, and tours, etc. The awarded 2019-2020 Fellow will also receive $1,500 in funding for airfare; and a $2,000 stipend.

Since its founding, the Affiliated Fellowship has been awarded to distinguished curators to advance the following projects. Visit the Program page to learn more about the past fellows and the Program's components: http://bit.ly/Kress-AARFellowship

The online application opens on Thursday, December 6, 2018, and are due by Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 12PM ET.

The AAMC and AAMC Foundation are grateful for the funding support provided by the Samuel H. Kress Foundation for this Fellowship, and are thankful to have partners, such as the Samuel H. Kress Foundation and American Academy in Rome, that share our mission.
