New York, August 26, 2019 – The Association of Art Museum Curators and AAMC Foundation has created two new roles on the Board of Trustees’ Executive Committee: a Vice President of Advocacy and a Vice President of Inclusion and Outreach. The roles reaffirm at the Board level the organization’s commitment to inclusion and advocacy, which are pillars of our current strategic plan and have been major efforts for the organization across all programming and fellowships over the past five years. The new Vice President roles allow for deepening of efforts in these areas in a more integrated way across the organization as a whole. The Board has also approved a new timeline for Board nominations, which are open now until September 2, and the appointment of non-curatorial professionals engaged in the field as voting Trustees.

Current at-large-board members have accepted the new roles: Michelle Jacques, Chief Curator, Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, as Vice President of Inclusion and Outreach; and Peter Schertz, Jack and Mary Ann Frable Curator of Ancient Art, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts as Vice President of Advocacy. Both take on the newly created roles with a commitment on a personal and professional level and will be outstanding additions to the Executive Committee. Along with these two new roles, the Board also welcomed a new Vice President of Fundraising, Mary-Kate O’Hare, Vice President, Advisor, Modern & Contemporary Art, Art Advisory & Finance, Citi Private Bank, currently at-large Trustee member.

Self-nominations to join the Board of Trustees of the AAMC & AAMC Foundation are open until September 2. AAMC is committed to maintaining a Board that is inclusive of a range of self-identifiers, fields of expertise, types of organizations, and geographic locations. The Board term is for a three-year commitment, with an option for renewal for an additional three years, and includes an annual Board gift. Newly elected Board members formally begin service in January 2020. Click here for more information on the roles and responsibilities of Board members and to view the nomination form.
