Announcing Webinar Focused on Community Advisory Groups

New York, August 28, 2019 - The Association of Art Museum Curators Foundation has opened registration for Utilizing Community Advisory Groups, a public webinar that will focus on the formation, implementation, and utilization of community partners and advisory groups.


Hosted on Tuesday, September 24th, 2019 at 2:00 PM ET, this session will feature a dialogue between panelists from an international range of perspectives on the topic, including René Paul Barilleaux, Head of Curatorial Affairs, McNay Art Museum; Adrian Locke, Senior Curator, Royal Academy of Arts, London; Regan Pro, Kayla Skinner Deputy Director of Education & Public Engagement, Seattle Art Museum; David Serkoak, Key Collaborator on the Ahiarmiut story in “Rights of Passage,” Canadian Museum for Human Rights; and Ben Tremillo, Executive Director, San Anto Cultural Arts.


Tailored for each organization and community, engagement with advisory groups can range in scale from intimate conversations to international symposia. Speakers will address current methods, case studies, and lessons learned based on their experiences as both museum and community representatives. The webinar will conclude with questions posed by the moderator and audience.

Utilizing Community Advisory Groups is part of the AAMC Foundation’s webinar series, which offers live online discussions on essential skills, timely issues, and latest discoveries that define the profession of an art curator, and enhance understanding and development in the field.
