AAMC Awards for Excellence in 2013 Call for Nominations
2013 Awards Process Changes Acting on a recommendation from a special prize committee task force, the Board of Trustees approved a structural change to the AAMC Awards for Excellence this past summer. Both categories of awards will now be subdivided based on museum operating budget:
Beginning this year, all AAMC awards will be based on the above operating budget model and will be juried. The only exception is the award for outstanding essay/extended catalogue entry, which will continue to be juried without regard to museum operating budget. Also note that the nominations process has changed, including the materials required for any award nomination. NOMINATION INSTRUCTIONS DEADLINE: ALL NOMINATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY FEBRUARY 28, 2014
PUBLICATION AWARDS: 1.
Outstanding Catalogue of 2013 (adjudicated according to museum operating budget size) 2. Outstanding Article, Essay or Extended Catalogue Entry of 2013 (adjudicated without consideration of operating budget) Notes:
EXHIBITION AWARDS (JURIED BY THE AAMC PRIZE COMMITTEE):
Key exhibition/installation nominations considerations:
1. Exhibition award winners are determined by the AAMC prize committee (click here to learn more about the committee). Nominations for the exhibition awards will now include the submission of sample text. The most appropriate sample text will be no more than 3 pages in length and will accurately portray the curatorial vision for the exhibition. Examples include relevant wall text, catalogue entries, or programmatic material associated with the exhibition.
2.
Exhibitions must have opened to the public within the calendar year
2013. If an exhibition bridges 2014, it is still eligible for
nomination in the 2013 category.
3. Exhibitions that traveled to multiple locations during 2013 must select one venue
to nominate, with preference given to the originating venue and in
consultation with all organizing curators. All individual organizing
curators will be awarded the prize should the exhibition win.
